In this fourth and final Plants lesson, students learn how plants are classified and how they make more of their own kind.

Student Objectives

Part 1

  • Define plant classification in terms of vascular and nonvascular plants; seedless plants and those with seeds
  • Compare and contrast angiosperms and gymnosperms
  • Compare and contrast monocots and dicots

Part 2

  • Define a flower in terms of its structures
  • Explain the processes of pollination, fertilization and germination
  • Give examples of how flowers are pollinated
  • Give examples of how seeds are dispersed
  • Compare algae to plants
