would never teach that way. Yet, too many
instructional materials, by way of their design and
organization, suggest that you would, and perhaps
more alarmingly, should teach solely by the
book. Why Sight-Based Instruction? Simply put,
traditional approaches alone are just not working.
Many of todays educational programs fail you
and your students in part because they are based on
a stale, flawed formula: read the book, answer the
questions, and do an activity
maybe. Those traditional
programs introduce students to new concepts through
the printed word. Sure, some pictures and diagrams
are thrown in to pretty up the page. But
the fact still remains that unless students are reading
at or above grade level, their chance of mastering
new abstract concepts and principles is severely hampered.
Add Sight-Based Instruction to the mix and we think
youll be amazed.
